Team performance improvement

Building a High Performing Team

High performing teams combine the best use of their human resources with a clear understanding of what they need to achieve - a focus on both the "task" and "people" aspects of their work together.

Burton OD works with teams on both these aspects so that they can identify real improvement opportunities.

A typical team improvement programme works like this:

Assessment of Team Performance

Individuals complete Burton OD questionnaires about their team and themselves. This work is analysed and summarised by the facilitator for the team to use in workshops.

Team Workshop - the Theory

During this workshop, the facilitator introduces key theory and works with team members to make links between this and the assessment work they have already carried out. The team sets itself homework to be completed before the second workshop.

Team Workshop - the Practice

This workshop focuses on practical areas for improvement in the way the team performs - using the outputs from the homework. The workshop completes a detailed improvement plan containing explicit behaviour and action topics.

Progress Review

The team meets to review its progress and plan further improvements.
