Making Your Organisation Effective

The way you structure your organisation, set up key processes and manage your people can have a profound influence on its effectiveness. A review may be appropriate if you setting out a business strategy, seeking to improve performance or customer responsiveness. It may also be required when you are preparing for or reacting to change.

An organisation review may look at the whole organisation, or a function within it and Burton OD can bring the necessary skills and tools to help you get the best out of the exercise.

Typically, a projet may involve:

Project Definition

Agreement on what the boundaries and objectives of the project will be. This needs to happen at the highest level and communications need to be in place to ensure that people understand the purpose of the project and are encouraged to help make it a success.

Data Collection

Data will be collected from a variety of sources - desk research, internal and external stakeholders, workshops, key process analysis.

Analysis and Reflection

The consultant will report back at intervals to confirm and improve an emerging analysis of the data. This process enables members of the organisation to be empowered in the process and ensures that the consultant does not miss important data.

Presentation and Reporting

The results of the research and analysis are reported to senior people and include consultant conclusions and recommendations for debate.

Following the presentation, the consultant reports in more detail, confirming recommendations for change.

Action Planning

An action plan is drawn up with appropriate people from the organisation and includes consideration of any change management issues that may be involved.
